The Containers

These Are The Actual Containers You Get.

Not a stock photo of someone else's yard. These are Stock'n Lock's own units, in Perth, with the markings and plates you will see when one turns up at your place.

The hire fleet

Every unit is a 20ft 22G1 standard container. The plate on each door carries its capacity and weights, so the numbers on this page can be checked against the container itself.

Craned into position

When a truck cannot back in, the container goes in by crane instead. Lifted over the obstacle and set down level, exactly where you asked.

The doors and the lock

Full-width double doors with four locking bars and a weather seal the whole way around. You put your own lock on it and you keep the only key.

What 20ft looks like

Two units side by side. If one is not enough for the job, a second can go alongside rather than forcing you into a bigger footprint than you need.

Sizing

How Big Is A 20ft Container?

Roughly the footprint of one car space, a bit longer. Every figure below is stamped on the container itself, so you can check it against the unit when it arrives.

Dimensions of a 20ft shipping container Side view measuring 6.06 metres long by 2.59 metres high, and an end view measuring 2.44 metres wide by 2.59 metres high. Doors this end 6.06 m 2.59 m Front on 2.44 m Drawn to scale. External dimensions of a 20ft 22G1 container.

Want to know whether it fits your driveway and whether the truck can get in? Run the access self-check, or send a photo of the spot and we will confirm before anything is booked.

Roughly a three to four bedroom home's worth of furniture and boxes, which is the main reason people pick a full container over a pod.

How It Works

Four Steps, And You Never Leave Home.

No truck to hire, no trips across town, no facility to sign into. The container comes to you and everything happens at your place.

1

Tell Us Where And How Long

Your suburb and roughly how long you need it. That is enough for us to give you the all-in weekly rate for your term, with delivery and pickup already in it.

2

We Check The Access

Send a photo of where you want it to go. We work out whether the tilt tray can back in or whether it needs to be craned over, and tell you before anything is booked.

3

It Arrives And Stays Put

We set it down level, where you asked. It stays on your property for the whole hire, so there is no depot, no booking to get to your own things, and no redelivery fee.

4

You Call, We Collect

When you are finished, give us a ring and we take it away. Collection is part of what you already paid, not a bill at the end.

Container vs Pod

Why It Stays At Your Place.

Most mobile storage is really depot storage with a delivery at each end. The container gets dropped off, you fill it, and then it goes away to a yard somewhere. Ours does not go anywhere. That one difference is what removes most of the annoyances people write reviews about.

How storage that stays on your property compares with depot-based mobile storage
  Depot-Based Storage Stock’n Lock
Where it lives Packed at your place, then trucked to a depot across town Stays on your property for the entire hire
Getting to your things Book ahead, often 24 to 48 hours notice, during business hours Walk outside and unlock it, any hour, any day
Getting it back for a bit Redelivery fee each time it comes back to you Nothing to redeliver, it never left
How much fits A pod, so several may be needed for a whole house One 20ft container, 33.2 m³, a three to four bedroom home
Who has the key Shared facility, staff access You do. It is your lock on your driveway

Comparison is against the depot-based mobile storage model generally, not against any one operator. Terms differ between providers, so check the ones you are comparing.

It's simple: request a quote, choose your storage period, and we deliver a weather-proof container directly to your property. When you're done, we collect it. No need to hire a truck or travel to a storage facility.

Stock'n Lock services Perth and surrounding areas. Contact us to confirm delivery is available to your specific location.

Your rate depends on how long you need the container and how far we are delivering. Send us an enquiry with your suburb and how long you need it, and we will give you the exact all-in weekly rate for your hire. Delivery and pickup are included, with no hidden fees.

Yes. All our storage containers are fully weather-proof and come with a secure lock, keeping your belongings protected from the elements and safe from unauthorised access.

Absolutely. Because the container is delivered directly to your property, you have flexible access to your belongings at any time that suits you.

Hire is offered in 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms. Shorter terms have a higher weekly rate, longer terms drop the rate. Send us an enquiry and we will confirm the exact cost for your term.

Yes. We can accommodate both standard tilt tray delivery and crane delivery depending on access requirements at your property. A tilt tray needs a clear run in; a crane can lift the container over a fence or obstacle into a spot a truck cannot reach. Not sure which you need? See our Will It Fit At Your Place? guide, or send us a photo of your spot and we will confirm before booking.

For a temporary hire on a residential property it is usually not an issue, but rules differ between Perth councils and some do have a view on how long a container can stay and where it sits. If you are hiring for a longer term, or the container will be visible from the street for months, it is worth a quick call to your local council before you book. Tell us what they say and we will work around it.

A sealed steel container gets warm in direct sun, which is normal for any container and worth planning for. Furniture, tools, kitchenware, whitegoods and boxed household goods are all fine. What we would not put in one through summer is candles, vinyl records, some electronics, artwork or anything else that is genuinely heat-sensitive. Placing it so it gets afternoon shade helps a lot, and we can talk through the best spot when we look at your access photo.

This is the question we get asked most and it is a fair one. Weight is spread across the truck, and for a standard concrete or paved driveway in good condition it is not usually a problem. Where we take extra care is soft ground, brick paving, decorative or exposed aggregate finishes, and anything with drains or services underneath. Send a photo of the run in and we will tell you honestly what we think before the truck turns up, including if we would rather crane it in from the verge.

A 20ft container is about the length of a long car and roughly 2.6 metres tall, so on a standard Perth block it reads as a large shed rather than something industrial. Most people put it down the side or on the hardstand rather than out the front. If yours has to sit somewhere visible, we can usually orient it so the doors and the bulk of it face away from the street.

The container is on your property, so your contents are generally treated the same way as anything else stored at your address. Check with your home and contents insurer before you load it, since some policies have conditions about items kept outside the house. We are not insurance advisers and would rather you confirm it with your insurer than take our word for it.
